Incheon Court Rejects Initial Search Warrant for G-Dragon's Drug Investigation while Lee Sun Kyun's Progresses

The Incheon Police Narcotics Investigation Unit recently sought a search warrant for the communication records of the renowned artist G-Dragon, over alleged suspicions of drug offenses. However, their attempt proved futile as the Incheon District Court rejected the warrant, citing "insufficient evidence of a crime."

According to legal and police sources, on October 30, the Incheon Police Narcotics Investigation Unit applied for a search warrant for G-Dragon's communication records under suspicion of drug offenses, based on drug control laws. After a review, the prosecution requested a warrant from the Incheon District Court.

Nevertheless, the court rejected the search warrant, citing 'insufficient evidence of a crime.' This implies that there is no clear confirmation of G-dragon's involvement in drug-related activities based on the statements collected by the police.

Consequently, the police plan to reapply for a search warrant for communication records and conduct further investigations. They believe that obtaining the artist's communication records will aid in confirming his associations with certain individuals, including the 'membership room salon' in Seoul's Gangnam district.

Previously, G-Dragon, through his legal representative, stated that he has no history of drug use.

A police official remarked, "Since we have to reapply for the search warrant, the investigation into G-Dragon may face some delays."

Meanwhile, the investigation into actor Lee Sun Kyun, who is suspected of marijuana and synthetic drug offenses under the same drug control laws, has been progressing. Lee Sun Kyun's mobile phone was seized during his police appearance. Authorities are scrutinizing call records and conducting digital forensics to determine if the device was in Lee Sun Kyun's possession and if any attempts were made to delete data.

Furthermore, the police sent Lee Sun Kyun's urine and hair samples to the National Institute of Scientific Investigation for a detailed analysis. A preliminary drug test conducted on his urine sample on October 28 returned negative results. In line with these findings, Lee denied all drug-related allegations during his police interrogation.

On the other hand, G-Dragon, through his attorney, has continued to deny the drug charges, confirming his voluntary participation in the investigation process and willingness to submit all necessary materials and undergo required hair and urine tests. The attorney for G-Dragon stated,

"We expressed our intention for voluntary cooperation with the police and active participation in the investigation," as well as "He has voluntarily provided all necessary information for the investigation and expressed his willingness to undergo hair and urine tests."
