Six Years On: Honoring the Memory of Jonghyun from SHINee

Today, we remember Jonghyun, a member of SHINee, on the 6th anniversary of his passing. On December 18, 2017, at the age of 27, Jonghyun left us after being found in cardiac arrest in Seoul.

SM Entertainment, SHINee's agency, shared a photo of Jonghyun's performance on the group's official social media, expressing their eternal love for him.

Fellow SHINee member Minho also took to social media to share a photo of Jonghyun, saying, "Thanks to you, it feels like a warm winter again today. I miss you even more this year, hyung. Always remembering you a lot and talking about you!" He also mentioned visiting Jonghyun's mother and comforting her, assuring that many people still miss him dearly.

Born on April 8, 1990, Jonghyun debuted as SHINee's main vocalist in May 2008. Beyond his singing talent, he was recognized for his songwriting and composing skills, contributing lyrics to SHINee's 'Juliette' and 'View', as well as songs for artists like IU, Son Dam-bi, EXO, and Lee Hi.

From February 2014 to April 2017, Jonghyun connected with fans through his radio show 'Blue Night, Jonghyun', showcasing his compositions in the 'Blue Night Lyricist Composer' segment. These songs later became part of his albums 'Story Op.1' and 'Story Op.2'. His solo tracks 'End of a Day' and 'Lonely', featuring Taeyeon, gained much love.

In 2016, Jonghyun held his first solo concert, followed by a second on December 9 and 10 in 2017, just eight days before his passing. His posthumous album 'Poet|Artist' was released in January the following year. The title track 'Shinin'' inspired the establishment of the non-profit foundation 'Shinin'', created by Jonghyun's family to support the growth of cultural and artistic individuals.

Today, we remember Jonghyun not only as a talented artist but also as someone deeply missed and cherished.
