2024 K-pop Comebacks: BTS, MONSTA X, WINNER Stars Return After Military Service

2023 has been a tough year for fans of third-generation K-pop idols, especially the male groups, as many members had to take breaks due to their military enlistments. But here's some good news for 2024 – several idols who began their mandatory military service in 2022 and early 2023 are gearing up to make their comebacks.

Let's start with BTS. Jin, the oldest member, started his military service on December 13, 2022, right after his 30th birthday. He got promoted to Corporal in July and is all set to return on June 12, 2024. Jin even promised fans he'd be there for the group's 11th-anniversary celebrations, which he missed in 2023. There's also a rumor that he might drop a solo album next year.

Now, turning to MONSTA X, their leader Shownu finished his military service this year, but Minhyuk started his on April 4, 2023. Currently part of the military band, Minhyuk is expected to be back around late September or early October 2024.

WONHO, a former member of MONSTA X and a solo artist, enlisted on December 5, 2022. After releasing his second single album, "Bittersweet," in October, he's set to complete his service on September 4, 2024. Fans are eager to see him return with his friendly off-stage persona and muscular appearance.

Next up is Jinyoung, who enlisted on May 8, 2023, after releasing an album in January 2023 to mark his decade in the entertainment industry. His military service will end in November 2024.

Moving on to WINNER, Mino started his service on March 23, 2023, and is currently serving as a public service worker. Fans can expect his discharge in the second half of 2024, around September 22.

Seungyoon, another member of WINNER, enlisted on June 20, 2023, and is expected to return to civilian life on December 20, 2024, after being last seen in "Tomorrow."

Ha Sung-woon, known for his time in the project group WANNA ONE, enlisted on October 24, 2022. He's set to return on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024.

For SF9 fans, Jaeyoon enlisted on March 21, 2023, and is set to be discharged on September 19, 2024, bringing some relief after the unexpected departure of Rowoon to focus on his acting career.

Despite more K-pop stars enlisting in 2023, the assurance of their return and the resumption of music activities in 2024 are bringing fans together and creating a sense of excitement for the future.
