Breaking Records: Jimin's 'Like Crazy' Marks a Decade-First Platinum for Korean Solo Artists


On January 11, 2024, Music Canada shared that Jimin's solo song "Like Crazy" got a Platinum certification. That means it sold over 80,000 copies in North America! Jimin's the first Korean solo artist this decade to hit Platinum in Music Canada.

Fans are so happy and proud of Jimin for this amazing achievement. Back on March 24, 2023, Jimin dropped his first solo album called "FACE." It had six cool tracks like "Face-Off," "Interlude: Dive," "Like Crazy," "Alone," "Set Me Free Pt. 2," and an English version of "Like Crazy." Big Hit Music released the album, and it showed off Jimin's talent in pop, hip hop, and R&B.


Jimin's album made a splash right away. On the first day, he sold a whopping 1,021,320 copies, as per the Hanteo charts. That's a big deal because he became the first solo artist to hit a million sales on the day of release! Plus, with "Like Crazy," Jimin made history by being the first solo K-pop artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 charts.


Getting Platinum certified by Music Canada is a huge deal for Jimin. It shows he's not just a great singer but also a big deal in the American music scene. And remember in August 2023 when "Like Crazy" got a Gold Single certification? That was for selling over 40,000 copies. Jimin is making history, being the first Korean solo artist to pull off these feats in this decade.
