On December 11, 2023, BTS members Kim Namjoon and Kim Taehyung began their mandatory military training, showing their undying dedication. The two recently marked an outstanding achievement by finishing a rigorous five-week training programme at Nonsan with honours and the prestigious designation of "elite" trainees.
Their dedication towards duty was demonstrated at the graduation ceremony, which also gave Kim Namjoon the opportunity to make a speech that touched many of his fans. Speaking to the gathered audience, Namjoon gave insights into his ideas and experiences during this particular period of his life.
"I postponed my enlistment for a long time, and because I joined the military at a fairly old age, I was afraid and worried about many things," confessed Namjoon. His honesty about the fears associated with delayed enlistment reflects the humility that fans appreciate in their beloved leader.
He continued, "Because I enlisted late, most of my colleagues in the dormitory I lived with were younger fellow trainees who were about 10 years younger than me." Despite the age difference, Namjoon highlighted the power of camaraderie formed during challenging times, shedding light on the unique bonds forged during military training.
Namjoon touched upon the significance of the night march, a particularly memorable experience. "As I marched with my colleagues all night and looked at the stars and cheered together during difficult times, I was able to feel the kind of camaraderie I had only heard about," he shared, offering a glimpse into the shared struggles and triumphs of military life.
Namjoon expressed his appreciation to the executives and squad leaders, emphasising how their direction turned strange training into rewarding and enjoyable experiences. His appreciation of the benefits of military life is indicative of his capacity to find fulfilment, enjoyment, and purpose even in strange places.
Namjoon talked on the idealistic goal for a future without the need for marksmanship in a moving moment. But he acknowledged that the peace that Korea has experienced for more than 70 years is a product of great sacrifice, hard work, and devotion.
In his closing words, Namjoon reassured fans, stating, "We will do our best to carry out our mission." This commitment to service and duty not only reflects Namjoon's personal ethos but also exemplifies the values embraced by BTS as a whole.
