Kim Taehyung began his mandatory military service on December 11, 2023, alongside Kim Namjoon. Opting for the Special Mission Unit at the Capital Defence command, directly under the President of South Korea's command, V is set to undergo rigorous training.
The SDT (Special Duty Team) is a specialized military police unit handling tasks like immediate responses to violence, crime, counter-terrorism operations, and arresting military deserters. The completion ceremony for those who enlisted on December 11, 2023, is scheduled for January 16, 2024, with BTS' V and other trainees practicing under strict surveillance.
Post-ceremony, V can meet his parents. On January 18, 2024, he moves to the Army Administrative School for a three-week intensive second round of training, covering shooting skills, combat tactics, running, and equipment training. Training spans across Navy, Army, Marine Corps, and Air Force.
After this training, V will join his designated unit in the Special Mission Unit of the Capital Defence Command. Fans, proud of his determination, nicknamed him Captain. Despite worries, they applaud his eagerness for challenges, flooding social media with compliments.
